It Was A Beautiful Day Exploring Ice Age Fossils State Park March 7!
The first Friends field trip of 2026 was a great success. Park Rangers and members of the Protectors of Tule Springs guided our group along the Megafauna Trail, sharing the fascinating story of the mammals that once roamed this region during the Pleistocene Period: ancient bison, Camelops, Scott’s horses, and dire wolves.
Sandy Croteau, a founding member of the Protectors of Tule Springs, shared the story behind this community-driven project. The sculpture was created from metal and debris that had been illegally dumped in the area.
The Ice Age Fossils State Park Tour ended with a group photo in front of the striking Monumental Mammoth sculpture.
