About
Photo: Watching the magnificent sunrise over a pond in the Nature Preserve, with views of the River Mountains to the southeast, is one of the many reasons Friends is grateful for having this natural oasis in the heart of the ever-expanding Las Vegas Valley. Please help Friends support this important green space for years to come.
Our Board of Directors has a combined 80 years of dedicated and compassionate involvement with Clark County Wetlands Park, many since the Park's inception in 1998. We have held executive administration and staff positions within Clark County Wetlands Park, as well as being educators, marketers, financiers, and holding positions of leadership.
As Park volunteers, we have led guided programs for students, staffed the Park Exhibit Hall and Information Kiosk, assisted with special events and stewardship activities, coordinated special projects, and cataloged and archived Park historical information to preserve its history. There are two things that bind us together. First and foremost is our love of the Park, and secondly, the desire to get things done. And yes, there's a third: we are dreamers, too.
Supporting Nature Close to Home…for Everyone
Wetlands Park Friends celebrates diversity in its many dimensions including ethnicity, race, culture, nationality, sex, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, faith, socioeconomic background, mental and physical abilities, learning styles and viewpoints. We actively seek diversity in our membership and on our governing board and sub-committees as we join with Clark County Wetlands Park staff and administration to make every visitor's experience a memorable and positive one.
Our Friends have a fervent desire to share their love of the Park with others!
Friends was granted Nevada nonprofit status on August 14, 2019. Since then, a dedicated voluntary Board of Directors has overseen all agency activities, but we could use more help.
The Friends Board is always eager to enlist and engage individuals in the community to help grow the organization, and by extension, make the Park a better place. If you have an appreciation for the Park and are interested in getting involved with Friends in some capacity as a volunteer, we would love to hear from you.
Some of our Friends like to find their "inner child." Here a volunteer "plays witch" by stirring a cauldron in the "Spooky Maze" at Haunt the Wetlands.
There aren't too many rules about who can and cannot actively participate in the Friends organization. Besides being a good citizen, you must be over 18 years of age. Even if you don't want a Board-level position of responsibility, aren't a "joiner," feel under qualified about how you might serve, or are unsure of what you might be able to contribute to Friends, there are so many ways you can share your enthusiasm and assistance. Even if you can volunteer a couple of hours of your time every month, quarter, or year-that can make a difference.
The Friends board encourages you to take the first step by downloading and filling out this form, indicating your interest in starting a dialog with Friends and by submitting the form to us. We look forward to hearing from you. Once we receive your form, a Friends board member will be in touch.
Birds like the northern flicker enjoy much of the year in the Park. Help us ensure that our wildlife and environmental resources are here for the future.
